It is very enthralling to communicate with you.
As I look back, I see a group of like-minded people converging to envision an educational institution that departs from the traditional ROTE model of tutoring the young ones. Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to work upon. To us, the whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows which uncover the out world. To be able to be caught up into the world of thought –that is being educated.
This fervor led to emergence of Springer Allahabad.
At this juncture I would like to share our Education Ethos with you.
Education traditionally has emphasized conveying a lot of information and facts. When material is presented to the class, it is usually in a polished form that omits the natural steps of making mistakes (feeling confused), recovering from them (overcoming frustration), deconstructing what went wrong (not becoming dispirited), and starting over again (with hope and maybe even enthusiasm). Learning naturally involves failure and a host of associated affective responses. We believe that all these feelings associated with various levels of failure are normal parts of learning and that they can be actually be helpful signals for how to learn better. We cultivate in our students the trait of inquisitiveness and kindle their craving for discovering on their own. Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselve.
A Native American saying goes like this –“Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me, and I may not remember. Involve me, and I’ll understand”. In harmony with this philosophy, the activity-based interactive milieu at Springer Allahabad is most conducive to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.
We have our most invaluable resource-our teacher. We believe that “who dares to teach must never cease to learn”. Thus Springer Allahabad has the concepts of Teachers’ Resource Centre (TRC), continual training and Quality Improvement Programmers for teachers in place, under the guidance of experts in their field.
Lastly, a quote by John Dewey, an American philosopher, psychologist and educational reformer sums up the Springer Allahabad ethos- “Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life;
Education is life itself”.
